ABOUT

“To me, abstract photography is about creating a mood or evoking a feeling, eschewing a representational interpretation of an object or place, and finding the spectacular hidden in the mundane. I'm inspired by reflection, light, pattern, depth, luminosity and color saturation.

“My travel photography is inspired by the travel postcards of my youth, which were imbued with an abundance of color, sharp details, and an almost surreal quality.”

Originally from Portland, Oregon, and now based in Mendocino, California, Michael McDonald is a hobbyist travel and abstract photographer. Since then he has shown both abstract and travel photography in juried exhibitions in San Diego, Los Angeles, Roseville, and San Francisco, CA; Louisiana; and North Carolina; as well as online.
